The objective of Aurveda is,
“Swasthasya swasthya rekshanam,
athurasya vikaraprasamsanam”
This means, ‘protect health of the healthy and relieve the suffering of the
sufferer’.
Ayurveda is a time tested system of holistic healing. “Ayu” means life “Veda”
means knowledge. Thus Ayurveda means knowledge about life. The system of
Ayurveda evolved as an ancient science through continuous observation and
experience, has been in active practice for more than 2000 years and is based on
solid principles of science, nature and philosophy with perfect documentation.
The system of Ayurveda originated in India and is well rooted and flourishing in
Kerala. Ayurveda practitioners in Kerala have preserved the system in its
original form. Ayurveda believes health and disease are the results of complex
interaction of physical, mental, emotional, environmental and social factors.
Harmonizing these fundamentals are the key to health. It is a philosophy as well as
therapy for living life in a meaningful, healthy and useful way. Ayurveda treats
not only the disease, but the person as a whole.
“Loka samastha sukino bhavanthu” is a prayer often on the lips of all Indians, which while
translated means, “may the whole world be at peace and harmony” however many of
us are not blessed by such prayers as our present health is the result of our
past action or inaction . The remedial action is in those who cop up with the
situation and the right action to rectify it.
